During the recent IWA WaterLoss Vienna Conference, one of the world’s largest water loss conferences attracting industry leaders from over 60 countries, it was agreed that 3 of the industries ‘heavy weights’ would join forces to increase losses.
Dale Hartley, Business Development Director at Syrinix, explains more “Whilst talking to some of my fellow industry colleagues at the Gala dinner at the beautiful Palais Ferstel in the heart of Vienna, we decided it was time to increase our losses in terms of weight and improve our health whilst raising funds for a very worthwhile charity WaterAid.”
WaterAid is an international non-government organisation and its aim is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, improve hygiene and sanitation in some of the world’s poorest communities. WaterAid has helped over 19.2 million people worldwide.
The official weigh-in took place after the gala dinner with Walter Kling, Vice President of IWA, officiating proceedings as ‘The Weigher of Vienna’. The participants, Roland Liemberger, Asia Regional Director at
Miya-Water, Mike Wrigglesworth, Vice President, Middle East, Europe and Africa at Pure Technologies and Dale Hartley, Syrinix, all faced the scales with intrepid anticipation. The official figures were: Dale 102.5kg, Roland 112.2kg and Mike 113.3kg. The ‘weight-loss team’ have agreed a maximum collective target loss of 30kg and have set up a Just Giving fundraising page under the team name of International-WeightLoss.
The challenge is set to conclude with a final weigh-in conducted by Walter Kling and will take place on 21 September immediately before the opening ceremony of the IWA World Water Congress 2014 in Lisbon Portugal, at which point the winner and biggest loser will be announced. So the team have 5 months to reach their weight loss and fund raising targets.
