Las Vegas Valley Water District, with the support of WaterStart, deployed Syrinix Pipeminder units earlier this year.
WaterStart aims to make Nevada a channel for innovation by leveraging the state’s leadership and expertise in water. Based in Las Vegas, its business model involves a joint venture between academic, public, and the private sector. Each partner brings together strategic resources and expertise, connecting water management agencies, technology companies, and policy makers in order to spur economic growth and development in the water sector. It has the ultimate goal of become a centre of excellence for innovation and share information and learnings with US utilities.
On the deployment of Syrinix PIPEMINDER WaterStart Executive Director Nate Allen said –

Las Vegas Valley Water District deployed multiple PIPEMINDER units this Spring and were delighted with the level of visibility that the units provided, identifying transient events which were eventually causing pipeline breaks, none of which were detected via their own SCADA system. These findings were reported to an audience by LVVWD Director Kevin Fisher of at a Syrinix breakfast seminar at AWWA ACE 16 in June.
