How TrunkMinder works
TrunkMinder utilises a combination of sensors, permanently attached to pipelines, to provide the client with a clear and real-time picture of what is happening along the monitored pipeline. Each sensor includes a hydrophone, geophone, pressure sensor and optional flow monitor, and is physically attached to the pipe at up to 750 metre centres.
TrunkMinder sensor units are in continuous contact via data links to a computerised monitoring facility, which analyses the data received many times a second. A sophisticated computer model compares the information received, with the expected data for use at that time, allowing changes in activity to be noted and monitored, and providing users with a highly qualified alert. Alerts can be delivered by SCADA or SMS with ongoing information also viewable via a web-accessed online dashboard.
TrunkMinder’s automated constant monitoring with early warning allows minor leaks of less than 50 litres per hour to be detected and tracked, allowing early intervention to prevent catastrophic failures and avoiding the cost and inconvenience of surveys. In addition, TrunkMinder provides remedial work teams with the location of the leak source, accurate to within one metre along the pipe.
