John Polden  

Mr John Polden
Chairman

John Polden qualified as an Electronic Engineer at Southampton University followed later by an MBA from the London Business School.

John held senior positions within the UK electronics industry and has worked in the UK technology Venture Capital industry since in 1990. He represents the Iceni University Challenge Fund and specialises in investments in electronics and software.

     
Paul Linford  

Dr. Paul Linford
Director and Founder

Paul is an Electronic Engineer, working first in the defence industry before moving to the University of East Anglia in Norwich (UEA) to research speech recognition and neural networks in 1987.

He completed his PhD in 1998 applying signal processing techniques to leak detection in water mains. A short spell as a university lecturer followed but returned to full time research when funding through the WITE initiative allowed further work on leakage, collaborating with Anglian Water and Yorkshire Water.

After acting as a consultant for Thames Water and other companies working in the leakage business Paul, together with the other Syrinix directors, formed Syrinix as a university spinout company.

     
Paul Linford  

Dr. Chris Harrison
Director

Chris is the Chief Executive of the Low Carbon Innovation Centre at UEA. Prior to forming LCIC in 2008, Chris was the Director of the Carbon Connections Programme, a HEFCE and OSI funded initiative to develop low carbon technologies and innovations with a particular emhasis on transfering knowledge from the university research sector. Carbon Connections has successfully setup 25 ground-breaking projects, all on an investment basis, with a view to developing an evergreen Carbon Connections nnovation fund. Some returns on investment have already been achieved in less than 3 years. Chris has a background in technology and knowledge transfer and has been a founding director and board member of a number of university spinout companies including Syrinix Limited that won the Timer Higher Business Initiative of the year in 2006 and Im-Sense Limited that raised one of the biggest private seed-investment rounds of any UK university spinouts last year.

     
Phil Nicholls  

Phil Nicholls
Director

Phil is Syrinix's Business Development Director leading the sales and marketing effort within the company and is also responsible for client project management.

A graduate in Economics, he has more than 20 years experience in managing projects and client relationships for organisations in financial, educational, industrial and service sectors and as Managing Director of his own successful IT consultancy.

     
Alex Palmer  

Dr. Alex Palmer
Senior Engineer

Alex joined the company at the end of 2004 after completing a Ph.D. on the use of nonlinear optimization algorithms for the restoration of images. Multi-disciplinary strengths in signal processing, electronics and strong programming skills make him a key member of Syrinix's technical team.


     
Claire Gledhill  

Ms. Claire Gledhill
Finance clerk

Claire works part time for Syrinix dealing with invoicing and general book keeping. Claire worked in the Research and Business office at the University of East Anglia before returning to University for further study in 2008.

     
Jon Carter  

Dr. Jon Carter
UEA Representative

Jon is currently head of the Technology Transfer Office at the University of East Anglia and brings comsiderable expertiese to the Syrinix Board whilst also representing the University as one of the comapny's investors.
